History
The Delta Kappa Gamma Society International is a professional honorary society of more than 80,000 key women educators in 17 countries worldwide. DKG promotes professional and personal growth of its members, excellence in education, and community service. DKG was founded May 5, 1929 in Austin, Texas by Dr. Annie Webb Blanton.
Texas State Organization was the first member state and has its headquarters in Dallas, Texas.
Iota Omega, the 240th Texas chapter, was chartered at Williams High School in Plano, Texas, on September 9, 1975 with Dr. Eula Lee Carter, an Honorary DKG Founder, presiding. Today chapter members carry out the Society's purposes through programs at monthly meetings, community service projects and fellowship of women educators.
The Iota Omega Chapter of the Texas State Organization was chartered on September 8, 1975 in Plano, Texas. Honorary Alpha State, Texas founder, Dr. Eula Lee Carter, presided. Esther H. Strickland was International President, and Mrs. Lunelle Anderson was State President. There were 46 charter members.
